Bangladesh expresses desire to join UN force in Gaza

Bangladesh said on Saturday it has informed the United States of its desire to join an international stabilization force planned for the Gaza Strip. In a statement, the Bangladeshi government said its national security advisor expressed "Bangladesh's interest in principle in being part of the international stabilization force that will be deployed in Gaza." Bangladesh's National Security Advisor Khalilur Rahman met with two American diplomats, Alison Hooker and Paul Kapur, in Washington. The statement did not specify the extent or nature of the proposed participation. There has been no comment yet from the US State Department. The UN Security Council passed a resolution in mid-November.
